"WERKSTATT" is a brand experience project that translates the essence of a roastery (a place of labor and craft) into a tangible visual narrative. Inspired by WERK Roasters' industrial space, I curated a workshop-themed identity that bridged the gap between digital branding and physical space. I directed every touchpoint, ensuring the 'workshop' concept was felt by every visitor at the pop-up store.

Challenges

The Clash of Visual Languages:

The primary challenge was to harmonize two brands with opposing aesthetics: WERK Roasters, defined by its cold, industrial German style and Helvetica-based typography, and WAVE UNION, characterized by its organic, wave-inspired logo.

Avoiding Simple Synthesis:
I determined that a conventional logo lock-up would lack cohesion and fail to convey the depth of the collaboration.

Solutions

Conceptual Bridge:
Instead of a purely aesthetic approach, I introduced the concept of “WERKSTATT” (German for workshop) to focus on the shared philosophy of 'the way we work.'

Visual Synthesis of Craft:
I designed a unique graphic identity by overlaying a technical blueprint of the Diedrich coffee roaster with vector illustration anchor points. This visualized the intersection where the precision of coffee roasting and the craft of graphic design meet.

Tactile Brand Experience:
To emphasize the physical process of creation, the poster design incorporates actual WERK Roasters’ packaging tags, providing a tactile connection for the audience at the pop-up store.
